Vladimir Putin's Speech on the 74th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany

Vladimir Putin attended a military parade marking the 74th anniversary of Victory in the 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War.

Thirty-five marching military bands and over 130 units of modern military equipment took part in the parade. Overall, more than 13,000 service personnel were engaged.

The parade was traditionally opened by the drummer company of the Moscow Military Music School.

The mechanised column of the parade involved the legendary T-34 tank, Taifun armoured vehicles, BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, BTR-82A and BTR-MDM armoured personnel carriers, Terminator tank support armoured fighting vehicles, Yars missile system launchers, S-400 air defence missile system, Pantsir-S1 gun-missile air defence systems and other equipment.

The music at the parade was provided by the combined military orchestra of the Moscow Military Garrison.

[...] The other subject (I want to talk about), my second point, is very important: it is the battlefield where the Sayyed (descendant of the Prophet) Zulfiqar, God have mercy on him, was operating, where he spent the last years of his life, and from where he returned as a victorious martyr, namely Syria. Day after day, the validity of our decision and choice to go to Syria is confirmed more and more clearly. (I mention it) because today, we speak of a martyred leader who was killed in this battle. [...] My second point concerns the (prospect of an) Israeli war (against Lebanon). Generally, when any news source publishes (sensationalist and misleading) statements (about Hezbollah), even if they concern me personally, I don't comment on it, nor do my (Hezbollah) brothers, because really too much things are said about us: statements, press or scientific articles, analyzes, etc., the majority being wrong or based on false information, (mostly) animated with bad intentions towards us, etc. [If we were to refute everything, we would no longer be the Party of God, but the Party of Rebuttal].

But today I am forced to react to what has been posted two days ago in a Kuwaiti newspaper, because unfortunately the media in our country have widely reported these (preposterous) statements. It is true that it was Saturday and Sunday, and it seems they had nothing else to get their teeth into, so they broadcast this information (again and again), despite the fact that this kind of (fake news) reports are found daily. This went viral on social networks, and even prominent, dear and close friends and outlets, have been affected by this story and have published articles about it. Anyway, let me comment on this, because it concerns all the Lebanese, and also concerns the region.

[...] The last point I want to mention before concluding is that a few hours ago, [Mike] Pompeo gave a speech, and I want to introduce my last point today with his statements. He said... You know that there are US sanctions against Iran on oil exports. The US granted exemptions to a number of countries, I think eight of them, like Japan, [China, India, Turkey, South Korea, Greece, Italy and Taiwan.] And it was expected that on May 2nd or 3rd, these exemptions would be extended or canceled, which would mean that the United States would impose sanctions against Iran prohibiting any country in the world from buying Iranian oil.

Today, Pompeo announced that the exemptions would not be extended, and that they'd enforce this decision from May 2nd or 3rd. He was asked about... Of course, he talked about Iran, terrorism, Resistance movements, Hezbollah, claiming that Hezbollah could not pay the salaries (of its members and fighters), which (if true) would prove the effectiveness of their sanctions against us... This is what he said today. See how much Mr. Pompeo is concerned about our livelihoods (by claiming that we are penniless)...
